During my sets I generally try to drop a couple Vampire Weekend tracks. I dig their tunes but am not a big follower. This morning while reading on one of my favorite blogs La Blogotheque I stumbled upon this Vampire Weekend clip. I can’t complain, the quality of music is good. It just seems as if their trying to highlight the lead singer as a The Beatles Style meets 2010. It’s a bit strange with all the closeups and the girls surrounding him cause he’s so “dreamy”.
With all that said though, I enjoy the tracks… It’s a nice listen but I could do without the “heart-throb” video.
I’m a sucker for info-graphs, Especially design worthy ones. This info-graph on the Genealogy of Pop & Rock Music seems to fit appropriately for this blog. It’s rather difficult to see but its well worth the squint. Click on the file for the massively enlarged version.

I’d like to introduce The Savviness. A project that with the help of some ShrugLife members wouldn’t be what it is today. The Savviness is a mobile-photo blog that we started. The goal of the site is to document the things we see everyday in our lives. The things range from ridiculous people, humor, art, and most importantly personal jokes; all attached with 1 liners for titles. The Savviness has taken great form and acts as a means of communication between our members. We now find ourselves having conversations via our photos. Video support is coming soon!
Our members are:
Alain D. (Myself)
Katerina S.
Marlon Oliva (ARQ)
Matt Pace (Maestro P)
Kristen Oshiro (K!0)
Wei Jerry Chen (DJ Fulltimefun)
Chrissy Leavell (mizzchriss)
Michael Schiano (mrcocochanel)
Matt Sleep
So, feel free to check us out at Thesavviness.info, It’s all in good fun.

Everyone knows that I am a New Wave enthusiast. I think K!O, DJ Fulltimefun, ARQ, & DJ Maestro P can vouch for that during my trance last night at Trophy Bar’s -Joy Division / New Order night. Though, one song they didn’t play was Love Tempo by Quando Quango. I feel like this is a staple for New Wave DJ’s since they were the influence for underground dance from Chicago and New York. Their sounds are still heard throughout production today.
Enjoy it…
A song that has been on my play-list continuously for a while now has recently proved to me more that everything good these days seem to root back to Joy Division, New Order, or The Smiths. In this case it’s New Order/Joy Division. (Even after the death of Joy Division and even though New Order branched out to be something a bit different, I still lump them together)
For a while It was bothering me. I couldn’t figure out from where the video for Holy Ghost’s – “I will come back” came from. This morning with my iPod on shuffle, It clicked. Their whole video was inspired by New Order’s- Confusion. I must say, People looked strange as hell back then. ‘Nuff said! Take a look…
Holy Ghost
New Order

Van She has been producing some of my favorite electro music since 2005. After taking a close look at the things I’ve been listening to religiously it seems that by coincidence Australia has taken over my airwaves. I think a trip to the land down under is due soon!
So, Van She covered Blue Oyster Cult’s classic “Don’t Fear The Reaper” not to long ago and I thought they did a great job, Take a listen:
Van She version:
Van She- (Don’t Fear) The Reaper [Orignal]
It got even better when Holy Ghost Remixed the Van She Cover:
Van She- (Don’t Fear) The Reaper [HOLY GHOST'S Remix]
I love this track, if only Legion wouldn’t yell every time I play electro.
Enjoy it!
